Oil change

Keep your engine clean, cool, and protected

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480 from $54.99
Genuine Valvoline oilThe right oil for your engine, a new filter, and a fluid check with every change

Oil keeps hundreds of fast-moving metal parts from grinding against each other. Over time it breaks down and fills with dirt, and worn-out oil can't do its job. A fresh change with the right oil for your engine is the cheapest insurance you can buy for your car.

What motor oil does

1LubricatesPuts a thin film between parts moving thousands of times a minute, so metal never grinds on metal.
2CoolsCarries heat away from the pistons and bearings, the hottest parts of the engine.
3CleansDetergents pick up soot and grit and hold them until the filter catches them.
4Seals and protectsHelps the piston rings seal and coats parts against rust and acids.
Why it wears out

Heat breaks oil down, its additives get used up, and it fills with soot, fuel, and moisture. It keeps looking like oil long after it has stopped protecting like oil, which is why it's changed by miles and months, not by how it looks.

What it prevents

SludgeOld oil thickens into sludge that clogs the small passages oil has to reach.
Early engine wearWorn oil lets cams, bearings, and timing chains wear out long before their time.
OverheatingClean oil carries heat out. Sludgy oil traps it.
Burning oilDeposits stick the piston rings, and the engine starts using oil.
Engine failureRunning on worn-out oil is the most common way engines are ruined.

Why it matters

Longer engine lifeClean oil means less wear on the parts that are the most expensive to fix.
Better gas mileageFresh oil flows easily, so the engine doesn't work as hard.
Keeps your warranty goodCarmakers require regular oil changes to keep the engine warranty valid.
A quick look-overWe check and top off your fluids while we're under the hood.

What we do

  1. Drain the old oil
  2. Install a new oil filter
  3. Refill with the right grade and amount for your engine
  4. Check and top off your fluids
  5. Reset your maintenance reminder

Brakes

Stop sooner, and stop worrying

Lifetime brake padsBuy a brake package once and we replace the pads free for as long as you own the car

Every time you stop, your brake pads squeeze the rotors and wear down a little. Replacing pads on time keeps stopping distances short, and it saves your rotors from damage, which is a much bigger bill.

Why it matters

Shorter stopsGood pads and smooth rotors stop you faster, especially in an emergency.
Save on rotorsCatching worn pads early keeps them from grinding into the rotors.
Quiet, smooth brakingNo squeal, no grind, no shaking pedal.
We show you firstYou see the measurements and worn parts before we replace anything.

Signs your car needs it

  • Squealing when you brake
  • Grinding when you brake
  • Brake pedal shakes or pulses
  • Pulls to one side when you brake
  • Takes longer to stop than it should
  • Brake light is on

Notice one of these? Request a time or call us and we'll take a look.

What we do

  1. Measure the pads and check the rotors
  2. Replace pads, and rotors if they need it
  3. Clean and grease the slides and hardware
  4. Check the brake fluid and lines
  5. Road test

Tires

Grip you can count on

Your tires are the only thing touching the road. Good tread, the right pressure, and even wear mean shorter stops, better handling in the rain, and tires that last thousands of miles longer.

Why it matters

Safer in the rainDeep tread clears water so the tire keeps its grip.
Tires last longerRotating on schedule evens out wear across all four.
Better gas mileageProperly inflated tires roll easier.
Smooth, quiet rideBalanced wheels don't shake the steering wheel at speed.

Signs your car needs it

  • Low tire pressure light is on
  • Shaking that gets worse with speed
  • Tires wearing unevenly
  • Tread is getting low
  • Nail or screw in a tire
  • Tire keeps going flat

Notice one of these? Request a time or call us and we'll take a look.

What we do

  1. Check tread and pressure on all four
  2. Mount and balance new tires
  3. Rotate to even out wear
  4. Patch flats when it's safe to repair
  5. Set pressures to your car's spec

Air filters

Let your engine breathe

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480

Your engine pulls in thousands of gallons of air for every gallon of gas it burns. The air filter keeps dust and grit out. When it clogs, the engine has to work harder for every mile.

Why it matters

Protects the engineKeeps dirt out of the cylinders, where it causes wear.
Strong accelerationA clean filter lets the engine get all the air it needs.
Helps fuel economyEspecially on older cars, a clogged filter can cost you at the pump.
See it yourselfWe show you the old filter so you know it needed changing.

Signs your car needs it

  • Filter looks gray or dirty
  • Feels weak or sluggish
  • Using more gas than usual
  • You drive on dusty roads
  • Not replaced in over a year

Notice one of these? Just pull in, no appointment needed, and we'll take a look.

What we do

  1. Pull and inspect the filter
  2. Show you the old one

Cabin air filters

Cleaner air inside your car

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480

The cabin filter cleans the air that comes through your vents: dust, pollen, and exhaust soot from the car ahead. When it clogs, the A/C and heat get weaker and the car can start to smell musty.

Why it matters

Less dust and pollenA big help if anyone in the car has allergies.
Stronger airflowAir moves freely, so the A/C and heat work better.
Fresher smellNo more musty air when you turn on the fan.
Easier on the blowerThe fan motor doesn't strain to push air through.

Signs your car needs it

  • Bad or musty smell from the vents
  • Weak air from the vents
  • Windows fog up and are slow to clear
  • More sneezing when you drive
  • Not replaced in over a year

Notice one of these? Just pull in, no appointment needed, and we'll take a look.

What we do

  1. Pull and inspect the filter
  2. Show you the old one
  3. Install a new filter
  4. Check the airflow from the vents

Transmission

Smooth shifts and a longer-lasting transmission

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480

Transmission fluid cools, cleans, and lubricates the gears and clutches inside. As it ages it breaks down and runs hotter, and heat is what wears transmissions out. A fluid service costs a small fraction of a transmission repair.

What transmission fluid does

1Carries the powerIn an automatic, the fluid is what moves power through the torque converter, and its pressure clamps the clutches that change gears.
2CoolsIt carries heat out of the transmission to a cooler at the radiator. Heat is where most transmission failures start.
3LubricatesIt coats every gear, bearing, and bushing so metal never touches metal.
4Cleans and conditionsDetergents hold wear particles until the filter catches them, and conditioners keep the rubber seals soft so they don't leak.
Why it wears out

Every shift makes heat, and heat breaks the fluid down. Its friction additives get used up, it fills with fine clutch material, and it slowly turns from bright red to brown. Worn fluid shifts harder, runs hotter, and wears parts faster, usually without any warning until something goes wrong.

What it prevents

Slipping and harsh shiftsFresh fluid gives the clutches the right grip to engage smoothly.
OverheatingNew fluid carries heat away. Worn fluid lets temperatures climb and cooks seals and clutches.
Stuck valvesVarnish and debris can stick the valves that control shifting, causing erratic shifts.
LeaksConditioners in new fluid keep seals soft and sealing.
A transmission replacementFixing or replacing a transmission can cost thousands. A fluid service costs a small fraction of that.

Why it matters

Smoother shiftsFresh fluid helps the transmission shift the way it did when it was new.
Runs coolerHeat is the number one cause of transmission trouble.
Avoid a big billFluid is cheap. A rebuilt transmission isn't.
Tow with confidenceEspecially important if you tow or haul.

What we do

  1. Check the fluid's condition and level
  2. Drain or exchange the old fluid
  3. Refill with the fluid your transmission calls for
  4. Check for leaks
  5. Road test

Radiator

Keep your engine from overheating

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480

Coolant carries heat away from the engine and keeps rust out of the cooling system. Old coolant loses that protection. A flush costs far less than a new radiator, water pump, or a head gasket from overheating.

What coolant does

1Carries heat awayIt flows through the engine, picks up heat, and sheds it at the radiator.
2Raises the boiling pointUnder pressure, coolant stays liquid far hotter than plain water would.
3Stops rust and corrosionAdditives coat the metal inside the engine, radiator, and heater core.
4Protects the water pumpIt lubricates the pump's seal so it doesn't wear and leak.
Why it wears out

The anti-rust additives get used up over time. Old coolant turns acidic and starts eating the radiator, heater core, and water pump from the inside, even when the level looks full.

What it prevents

OverheatingA cooling system that's clean and full keeps the engine at the right temperature.
Head gasket damageOverheating can warp the engine and blow the head gasket, one of the most expensive repairs there is.
Radiator and heater core leaksFresh additives stop the corrosion that eats through them.
Water pump failureA lubricated seal lasts; a dry, corroded one leaks.
Clogs and scaleOld coolant leaves deposits that block the radiator's small tubes.

Why it matters

No overheatingKeeps the engine at the right temperature in traffic and heat.
Stops rustFresh coolant protects the radiator, hoses, and water pump.
Heater works rightGood coolant flow means warm air in winter.
Avoid major repairsOverheating can ruin an engine in minutes.

What we do

  1. Pressure-test for leaks
  2. Flush out the old coolant
  3. Refill with the type your car calls for
  4. Bleed air from the system
  5. Check the hoses and radiator cap

Brake fluid

A firm pedal, every time

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480 from $99.99

Brake fluid carries the push of your foot to the brakes at each wheel. It slowly soaks up moisture from the air, and wet fluid boils sooner and rusts the brake parts from the inside. Fresh fluid keeps the pedal firm and protects the expensive parts, like the ABS unit.

What brake fluid does

1Carries your foot's forceFluid can't be squeezed, so the push on the pedal travels through the lines and clamps the brakes at every wheel.
2Handles the heatBrakes get very hot. Brake fluid has to stay liquid at those temperatures or the pedal goes soft.
3Protects the metalCorrosion inhibitors keep the calipers, lines, and valves from rusting inside.
4Keeps the ABS workingAnti-lock brakes use tiny valves that need clean fluid to work.
Why it wears out

Brake fluid absorbs water from the air, a little at a time, through hoses and seals. Even a small amount of water lowers its boiling point a lot and starts rusting brake parts from the inside. It happens whether you drive a lot or not, which is why it's changed by time.

What it prevents

Soft pedal and brake fadeWet fluid can boil under hard braking, and the pedal sinks when you need it most.
Rusted calipers and linesMoisture corrodes them from the inside.
ABS failureCorrosion and debris can ruin the ABS unit, a very expensive part.
Sticking brakesCorroded caliper pistons can stick, wearing pads unevenly and pulling the car.

Why it matters

Firm, confident pedalNo soft or spongy feel when you need to stop.
Protects the ABSClean fluid keeps rust out of the parts that cost the most to replace.
Safer on hillsFresh fluid won't boil under hard braking coming down a grade.
Cheap insuranceA flush costs a fraction of a caliper or ABS repair.

What we do

  1. Test the fluid for moisture
  2. Push the old fluid out of every brake line
  3. Refill with the fluid your car calls for
  4. Bleed out any air and check the pedal
  5. Road test

Fuel system

Get back the power and mileage you used to have

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480 from $99.99

Over time, carbon builds up in the fuel injectors and intake, so the engine gets a poorer spray of fuel and runs less efficiently. A fuel system cleaning breaks those deposits down.

What a fuel system cleaning does

1Cleans the injectorsRestores a fine, even spray of fuel so it burns completely.
2Cleans the intakeRemoves carbon from the throttle body and intake.
3Cleans the combustion chamberBreaks down carbon that builds up where fuel burns.
4Treats the fuelLeaves cleaner in the tank to keep working as you drive.
Why it wears out

Every tank of gas leaves a little carbon behind. Short trips and stop-and-go driving build it up faster. It happens slowly, so most drivers don't notice the power and mileage they've lost.

What it prevents

Hesitation and rough idleClean injectors keep the engine smooth.
Lost gas mileageDeposits waste fuel you pay for.
Failed smog checksAn engine that burns fuel completely runs cleaner.
Hard startsEspecially on cold mornings.

Why it matters

Smoother idleLess shaking at stoplights.
Better mileageClean injectors spray fuel the way they're designed to.
Easier startsEspecially on cold mornings.
Cleaner exhaustHelps the engine burn fuel completely.

What we do

  1. Run a professional cleaner through the fuel system
  2. Clean the throttle body
  3. Treat the fuel in the tank

Power steering

Easy, quiet steering

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480 from $99.99

Power steering fluid is what lets you turn the wheel with one hand. Worn-out fluid wears the pump and seals, and makes steering stiff and noisy.

What power steering fluid does

1Does the heavy liftingThe pump pressurizes the fluid, and that pressure helps turn the wheels so you don't have to muscle it.
2LubricatesKeeps the pump and steering rack moving smoothly.
3CoolsCarries heat away from the pump.
4Conditions the sealsKeeps the many rubber seals in the system soft.
Why it wears out

Heat and pump wear darken the fluid and fill it with tiny particles that act like sandpaper on the seals and the pump.

What it prevents

Pump whine and failureClean fluid keeps the pump quiet and healthy.
Rack leaksA leaking steering rack is a big repair. Soft seals don't leak.
Stiff steeringFresh fluid keeps the assist smooth, especially when it's cold.
Hose and seal leaksConditioned rubber lasts longer.

Why it matters

Easy steeringParking and tight turns without the workout.
No whiningFresh fluid quiets a noisy pump.
Protects the pumpClean fluid keeps the pump and steering rack from wearing out.
Fewer leaksKeeps the seals soft and sealing.

What we do

Differential fluid

Protect the gears that drive your wheels

Get directionsNo appointment needed 619-312-2480 from $119.99

Trucks, SUVs, and all-wheel-drive cars have differentials that split power between the wheels. The gear oil inside takes a beating, especially when you tow or haul, and it doesn't last forever.

What differential fluid does

1Protects gears under huge pressureGear oil is thick and packed with extreme-pressure additives for gears that press together with tons of force.
2CoolsCarries heat away from the gears, especially when towing or hauling.
3Protects bearingsKeeps the bearings that hold the gears smooth and quiet.
4Helps limited-slip unitsSome differentials need special friction additives to work correctly.
Why it wears out

Heat breaks gear oil down, fine metal from the gears builds up, and moisture can get in through the vent. It's out of sight, so it's often never changed at all.

What it prevents

Gear and bearing wearWorn oil leads to a hum or whine that only gets louder.
Overheating when towingHeavy loads push gear oil to its limit.
Seal leaksFresh oil keeps seals in good shape.
A gear rebuildRebuilding a differential costs many times more than the oil.

Why it matters

Longer gear lifeFresh gear oil keeps metal from wearing on metal.
Quiet drivingWorn oil can lead to a hum or whine at speed.
Tow with confidenceHeavy loads heat the gear oil fastest.
Avoid a rebuildReplacing gears costs many times more than the oil.

What we do

  1. Drain the old gear oil
  2. Check it for metal wear
  3. Refill with the right gear oil
  4. Check the seals for leaks
